The Lianzhou Underground River is located 26 kilometers northeast of Lianzhou City, an ancient historical and cultural city. It is in the lofty mountains at the junction of Guangdong, Guangxi and Hunan provinces. It is a typical giant natural limestone cave of subtropical karst landform. It is famous at home and abroad for its mysterious and magnificent stalactites and cave underground rivers. It is known as the first underground river in Guangdong.
The scenic spots of Lianzhou Underground River are divided into two parts: land route and water route. The land route is a cave, and the water route is an underground river. The Lianzhou Underground River with land and water tours is unique in Lingnan with its magnificent momentum, magnificent landscape and unique combination. The well-known writer Qin Mu called it ‘the mysterious and magnificent underground river’. There are caves within caves, rivers within caves, bridges within caves and waterfalls within caves, which are the unique features of Lianzhou Underground River. The tourist area of Lianzhou Underground River lies hidden in the cave halfway up the mountain. The area of the cave is 100,000 square meters, and the area available for sightseeing is 60,000 square meters. The upper two floors have top pillars as high as more than 30 meters and the Xianren Tian Square that can accommodate 10,000 people. The third floor is a winding underground river. The river flows quietly towards the depths of the cave. The scenery in the cave can be said to have everything. There are many mountains and rivers, steep cliffs and lofty rocks. The natural cave entrance is spacious and majestic. Standing in it, a feeling of ‘a place of unique beauty’ arises spontaneously. Compared with the Seven Star Crag in Guilin, it is actually even better. The temperature inside the cave remains at 18-22 degrees Celsius all year round, and the humidity is 96%-98%. Moreover, the oxygen content in the cave is as high as 21.4%-21.6%, and the carbon dioxide content is only between 0.01%-0.019%. The air is fresh, warm in winter and cool in summer. It is a holy place for tourism and summer vacation. There are countless magnificent and colorful stalactites in the cave. The tour area is divided into three layers: the upper and middle layers are land layers. The halls are tall and wide, and the rock walls are solid, majestic and spectacular. There are ‘waterfalls’, ‘mountains and forests’, ‘deep valleys’, ‘countryside’, ‘Yao stockade’, a hundred flowers blooming, birds flying and clouds drifting…; The lower layer is an underground river winding 1500 meters from north to south. After passing through three beautiful canyons and passing through the bottoms of four mountain tops, the river surface is 1.6-10 meters wide and the water depth is 1-7 meters. There are numerous wonders on both banks, which are extremely beautiful. There are the treasure in the cave ‘Golden Rooster Announces Dawn’ and ‘Elephant Crossing the River’; There is also the ‘God of Longevity’ with two scenes of one thing in the underground river; There are nearly a hundred natural wonders formed by stone pillars, stone curtains, stalagmites, stone lotus roots and stone flowers, such as ‘Flying Waterfall and Strange Stones’, ‘Flowers and Birds God Pavilion’. .. The natural beauty everywhere is amazing and makes people forget to return. The scenic area provides free tour guide explanations. Looking at the stone scenery with the tour guide’s explanations will be even more interesting. After walking through the land layer, you can take a boat to tour the river. Each boat can seat about 10 people.Embark on a small boat journey along the dark river, meandering through twists and turns, with wide and narrow passages, and stalactites within reach above your head. The route passes through three gorges: Banana Gorge, Lotus Gorge, and Longmen Gorge, with the banks adorned with diverse and spectacular stalactite formations, beautifully illuminated by lighting. While admiring the scenery inside the cave, you may often get wet from water droplets falling from the dome, unlike overdeveloped caves that have long lost their vitality. The boat ride lasts approximately 40 minutes, and the entire cave tour takes about 1.5 hours. The cave is open all year round from 08:30 to 17:00.
