Donghua Zen Temple, originally established in the first year of the Tianjian era during the Southern Dynasties under Emperor Wu of Liang in 502 AD, was founded by the Indian monk Zhiyao Sanzang after arriving in Guangdong by sea and visiting Wengyi (present-day Wengyuan) to establish the Lingjiu Temple.
The temple is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.
