Qi Pan Village is located in Danzhao Town, Nanhai District. During the Qing Jiaqing period, the ancestors of the Chen family designed and constructed the village based on the layout of traditional Chinese chessboard, creating a neat and uniform village texture when viewed from above, with three vertical and three horizontal lanes, clearly defined as an enlarged chessboard, hence the name ‘Qi Pan Village’. By the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, the village was further expanded, forming the current layout of 13 vertical alleys and 2 horizontal alleys. Open all year round, accessible 24/7.
