The Guanyin Buddhist Temple was first built in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty and was destroyed in 1940. In July 1998, it was approved by the provincial religious affairs bureau for reconstruction. The temple is built in accordance with the architectural style of ancient temples in Lingnan. It has a magnificent scale and a total construction area of 10,000 square meters. There are the Heavenly King Hall, the Mahavira Hall, the main mountain gate, the Sutra Depository, the Thousand-Hand Guanyin Hall, the Hall of Five Hundred Arhats, the Merit Hall, the bell tower, the drum tower, and the monks’ quarters. In the Mahavira Hall, there is a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha as high as 9 meters. There are many believers coming here to worship and the incense is curling up. A senior monk was pleasantly surprised to find that General Mountain is very similar to a Maitreya Buddha with a smiling face and a big belly. He opened his arms and firmly held the Guanyin Temple, making the temple more ancient and spiritual. Therefore, it is called Great Foshan Mountain. Opening hours: From January 1st to December 31st, open from 07:30 to 17:30.
