Suocheng Town in Dacheng faces the South China Sea on the east and leans against Dajianshan Mountain on the north. It was built by Gu Shi, a hundred-household official. The imperial court set up garrisons along the coasts across the country to defend against Japanese pirates. As the garrison was located in Dacheng, it was later abbreviated as Suocheng.
