The Shitouhe Reservoir is located in Tangpu Village within Huizhou at the junction of Shenzhen and Huizhou. It is like a pool of lake water quietly surrounded by mountains. The green grassland beside the reservoir is filled with the green of midsummer. Standing in it is like returning to the grassland of one’s hometown.
Tracing the source of the Shitouhe River upward, the stream winds gracefully. The rocks are like being carved by the divine power of a heavenly axe, standing abruptly and densely. Together with the stream, they form a beautiful landscape painting, fulfilling the beautiful sentence of the ancients that’mountains come alive because of water, and water is charming because of mountains’.
When hiking with a backpack, the water is deep and the stones are slippery. Crossing the stream and stepping over stones, from time to time, one needs to climb up and bypass along the cliff wall beside the waterfall. The scenery on both sides of the valley is picturesque.
