Fengyin Rock, also known as Chessboard Rock, is located on the mountainside behind Chessboard Village, Yunlu Town, Jiedong District. It is 8 kilometers away from Jiedong County. Fengyin Rock faces south. Surrounded by mountains, it is lush with trees and full of jagged rocks. The palace buildings of Fengyin Rock are simple and unique. A natural huge rock is the roof of the main building, forming a natural stone temple. On the east side of the huge rock is engraved the word ‘Natural Charm’ inscribed by Chen Song of Shao’an, Chao’an County in 1924. The stone railing in front of the rock is a natural release pond. Standing in front of the rock and looking down at the foot of the mountain, the village is in full view. On the north side of the meditation room is Fengquan (Wisdom Spring). The spring water is clear and sweet. Turning from Fengquan to behind the Buddhist hall, there is a bottomless ancient cave called ‘Fairy Cave’. Due to collapse over time, the cave entrance is sealed with steel pipe windows. The end of the cave is unfathomable. During the War of Liberation, this place was a stronghold for underground parties to carry out revolutionary activities. In the autumn of 2003, a peculiar ganoderma lucidum grew in the ‘Fairy Cave’. The ganoderma lucidum is about 70 to 80 centimeters high, brown in color, smooth and dust-free. The opening hours are subject to the opening status on the day.
