Jiazi Town is an ancient town in eastern Guangdong with an early development. It was originally called Jiazi Gate. Because there are large stone walls standing and arranged like a gate at the port, which are in line with the sixty Jiazi characters of heavenly stems and earthly branches, it is called Jiazi. Jiazi Town is located in the south of Lufeng City. It faces Jiadong Town across Yingjiang River in the east, borders Huilai County, Jieyang City in the north, adjoins Jiaxi Town in the west, and faces the South China Sea in the south. The terrain of Jiazi Town is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. It belongs to hilly areas. The geological surface is mainly loess, with a large amount of sand and firmness. It has a subtropical monsoon climate with an average annual temperature of 22 degrees Celsius. It is mild and rainy. Jiazi Town has charming scenery and rich tourism resources.
Daidushan Mountain. In 1277, the second year of Emperor Duanzong of the Southern Song Dynasty, the emperor of the Song Dynasty ascended Daidushan Mountain at Jiazi Gate. Fisherman Zheng Fuweng rose up to support the emperor and restore the country. Later generations built Jiaxiu Tower, Dining Pavilion and General Temple on Daidushan Mountain as a memorial. Inscriptions left by celebrities of the Song Dynasty, successful candidates in the imperial examinations of the Qing Dynasty and juren (those who passed the imperial examinations at the provincial level) have made Daidushan Mountain a natural scenic spot.
The Red Chamber was built in 1925. When the older generation of revolutionaries led the eastern expedition, they once planned revolutionary struggles there.
Jiaxiu Academy is the site of Jiazi Town No. 1 Middle School. In the tenth year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, the provincial constitutional official (anonymous) came to Jiazi for inspection. He took out a part of his salary and ordered gentlemen and wealthy households to donate money to build the academy. It was a place to cultivate talents such as scholars, tribute students and juren at that time.
In addition, there are also eight ancient scenic spots such as ‘Chaolai Renzi Water’, ‘Parrot Pecking Carp’, ‘Wood and Stone Wonders’.
