Congxi Ancestral Hall is located at Xiejiaotou, Jingsha Administrative District, Caitang Town. It was built by Chen Xunnian, a Chinese leader living in Johor, Malaysia. Construction began in 1870 (the ninth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty) and was completed in 1884 (the ninth year of Guangxu), lasting for fourteen years. Congxi Ancestral Hall faces west and is 31.22 meters wide and 42.25 meters deep. It has a two-entry courtyard layout. Between the front hall and the back hall is a patio, with corridor verandas on both sides. The back hall has a protruding roof, forming a pattern of four halls facing each other. The back hall is three bays wide and three bays deep. It has a wooden structure with bracket sets. The ground is paved with marble bricks. The dazzling array of architectural decorations makes the entire building even more magnificent. In front of the entrance gate tower, there is a pair of exquisite stone lions on each side. The roof truss of the gate tower is double-sided hollowed-out stone carving. What is truly astonishing are the four stone carvings embedded in the stone wall of the gate tower. These four stone carvings are themed on fishing, firewood gathering, farming, and studying, as well as flowers, birds, insects, and fish. Each stone carving cleverly uses a zigzag composition to bring people, events, and objects from different times and spaces into the same picture. The Chaozhou wood carvings inside the ancestral hall are also extremely exquisite. The roof truss of the first entrance, the protruding roof of the back seat, and all the beams, columns, and interspersed components of the middle trough roof truss are decorated with delicate Chaozhou gold lacquer wood carvings. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 18:00. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
