Quanzhou Overseas Chinese History Museum was built to commemorate the immortal achievements of overseas Chinese ancestors, comprehensively display the history of Quanzhou’s overseas Chinese, and carry forward the spirit and fine traditions of overseas Chinese.
The museum consists of 1 main building, 1 comprehensive building, and 2 attached buildings in the front area of the museum. The front of the main building is connected by arc-shaped arches to the east and west wings, symbolizing that the museum plays a bridging role between Quanzhou and overseas.

Quanzhou Overseas Chinese History Museum mainly showcases the history of Quanzhou-origin overseas Chinese emigrating overseas and their survival and development overseas, reflecting the main characteristics of the overseas Chinese community and their status and role in the development of human civilization.

Since its establishment, the museum has successively launched two basic exhibitions: “The Hall of Emigration” and “Quanzhou People in Southeast Asia”. “The Hall of Emigration” mainly displays the reasons, types, methods, processes and impacts of Quanzhou-origin overseas Chinese emigrating overseas in different historical periods since the Tang Dynasty. “Quanzhou People in Southeast Asia” presents the history of Quanzhou people’s survival and development overseas, as well as the social changes and current situation of overseas Quanzhou-origin Chinese communities.

The exhibition design is ingenious, making extensive use of modern advanced presentation methods such as scene restoration, miniature landscapes, and holographic imaging, with strong ornamental value.
