Tianjie Temple: A Scenic Gem in Xiamen

Tianjie Temple is located on the western side of Wanshi Rock, in the Zuixian Rock area, and was established during the early Qing Dynasty by Monk Yuesong. It is adjacent to the Xiamen Botanical Garden. Following the steps behind the temple, one can encounter scenic spots such as the ‘Path to Immortality’ and the ‘Immortal’s Footprint Stone’.
In the past, before morning scripture recitations, the temple monks would strike the bell 108 times, a sound that could be heard far and wide, hence the name ‘Dawn Bell of Tianjie’. Visitors can climb to the summit of Camel Peak and take in the panoramic views of Gulangyu Island, which are sure to uplift one’s spirits.
The temple is open all year round from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
