Chenghua Park is built on the original site of Chengdu Amusement Park, covering an area of about 150 mu, with a water area of more than 4,000 square meters. Chenghua Park is divided into four themes: “Peach Blossom Valley”, “Lakeside Wetland”, “Ginkgo Avenue” and “Children’s Play Area”.
In the lakeside wetland, there are aquatic plants such as reeds, calamus, water bamboo and water lilies, and the bottom of the pool is densely paved with landscape pebbles. The terrain on both sides of the valley is relatively high, forming a low-lying path in the middle. A small wooden bridge spans it, and many people take a stroll there.
The feature of Chenghua Park is that there are many plants, and each plant can “talk” because they all have “ID cards”. The ID card is a wooden sign with the name, family and genus of the tree written on it. For example, on the tall Phoebe zhennan, it is written “Phoebe zhennan, Lauraceae, Phoebe”; on the delicate Chaenomeles speciosa, there is a label saying “Chaenomeles speciosa, Rosaceae, Chaenomeles”. In addition, there are Acer truncatum of Aceraceae, Sophora xanthantha and Erythrina corallodendron of Fabaceae, Gleditsia sinensis of Caesalpiniaceae, Hibiscus mutabilis of Malvaceae and so on.
Rather than being a park, it is more like a small mountain. There are tall ginkgo trees planted on both sides of the park entrance. The path beside it winds and extends to the viewing platform on the top of the mountain. The top of the mountain is covered with green trees all around. At a glance, it is lush and green. Due to the weather, it is still a bit foggy around, making people feel as if they have “traveled” from the city to the forest. However, the retained roller coaster track in the original amusement park and the soothing music played from the “stones” on the lawn pull people back to reality.
