In 1918, Japan, in the name of the “Good Neighbor Association”, a charity organization under the “Hygiene Section of the Taiwan Governor’s Office”, jointly invested with Chinese and Japanese businessmen to establish the Gulangyu Branch of Taiwan Bo’ai Hospital. It was initially located in a villa building on “Church Road” in Gulangyu.
In the following year, an affiliated medical college was established, which trained a group of doctors. These doctors were active in Bo’ai Hospital and the areas of Xiamen and Zhangzhou in the future.
