Dongshi Ancient Fort is located on the west side of Dongshi Town, Jinjiang, adjacent to the Longjiang River, and facing the sparkling Taiwan Strait and Jinmen Island. It is renowned for its nearly two-thousand-year history and is elegantly known as ‘Half Moon Sinking in the River’ due to its crescent shape facing the East China Sea.
Connected to Dongshi Ancient Fort is the sacred Buddhist site, Daguoji Temple. According to the ‘Xishan Magazine’, Dongshi Fort was originally a She family fort during the Spring and Autumn period in Minzhong, and it was rebuilt in the first year of the Kaihuang era of the Sui Dynasty (581 AD).
