Wuyi Square is located at the southern foot of Yu Mountain in the center of Fuzhou. It covers an area of 4.5 hectares, with a greening area of 31,373 square meters.
The north side of the square is an important venue for the Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government to hold receptions and other foreign affairs activities. To the east, there are large landmark buildings such as the Fujian Science and Technology Museum, the Telecom Hub Building, and Yuanhong Garden. To the south is the Fujian Gymnasium that can accommodate 6,000 people indoors. To the west is the Fuzhou People’s Hall.

Wuyi Square has become the political and cultural center of Fuzhou and an important venue for citizens’ leisure and cooling activities. The flag-raising ceremonies on New Year’s Day and National Day of Fuzhou are held here every year. The square has a strong political and cultural atmosphere. There is a musical fountain in the middle. In the pool, there is a group of white sculptures of eight dancing girls, each 5 meters tall, symbolizing that the “daughters of Fujian” live a happy life in Fujian. To the south of the musical fountain stands a large stainless steel sculpture, the city symbol of Fuzhou, “Three Mountains and One River” (symbolizing Yu Mountain, Wu Mountain, Pingshan Mountain and the Minjiang River).
