Chixi Township is located in the southern part of Yongtai, 17 kilometers away from the county town. It covers an area of 102.4 square kilometers and has a population of 15,000 people (as of 2004). The township governs 15 administrative villages.
Famous historical sites include Baiyunyan Temple and Xiguo Temple, which has a history of over 200 years. It is situated at the northern foot of Tadingtou, adjacent to the former site of the Central Fujian Revolutionary Base, and complements the scenic view with the Jiuxianxi Third Level Power Station Dam; the ecological environment of Baisha Stream within Tangxi Village; and the steep cliffs of Jiuyunzhai, where dozens of meters of stone walls rise from the ground, making it an ideal spot for rock climbing. The Xianxiang Highway connects these scenic spots.

During festivals, tourists and worshippers flock to this area, making it a popular destination for eco-tourism and vacations. It is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
