The Fuzhou Museum was founded in 1987. Its original site was within the Dashi Hall on Yushan Mountain in Gulou District, Fuzhou. The new museum is located at No. 8, Wenbo Road, Jin’an District, covering an area of 14.47 mu, with a total construction area of 11,198 square meters.
The Fuzhou Museum integrates the collection, preservation, appreciation and research of cultural relics. It mainly showcases the glorious history of Fuzhou and promotes the characteristic local culture of Fuzhou through exhibitions, cultural exchanges and other means.


The cultural relics in the museum’s collection include ceramics, bronzes, Shoushan stone carvings, calligraphy and paintings, silk fabrics, lacquerware, jadeware, ancient furniture and ancient wood carvings, among which the collections of Shoushan stone carvings, calligraphy and paintings, and silk fabrics are its characteristics.


At present, there are two fixed exhibitions open to the public for free: “Magnificent Chapters of Mindu – Exhibition of Fuzhou’s History and Culture” and “The Gateway of the Maritime Silk Road, Blessed Fuzhou – Special Exhibition of Fuzhou’s Cultural Heritage of the ‘Maritime Silk Road'”.


In addition, the Fuzhou Museum also continuously launches some well-planned thematic exhibitions with distinct themes and novel forms, as well as various temporary exhibitions with rich content, diverse forms and a strong sense of the times.


Opening hours: Open from 09:00 – 18:00, Tuesday – Sunday throughout the year.


Service facilities: There are 2 toilets in the museum, located beside Hall 1 and the Mindu Huazhang Exhibition Hall respectively.
