During the reign of Emperor Zhenzong of the Northern Song Dynasty (1019 AD), Liang Zong, the son of Liang Zhouhan, a court official in the Ministry of Works, came from Gushi, Henan, and went south to Fujian to take up an official position. He served as the主簿 of Min County. After retiring from office, he explored the mountains and waters and chose to live in Guling. He never returned to the north. Since then, the Liang family has multiplied and thrived in Guling, and the initial Liangcuo Village was formed.
Even today, there is still Liangcuo in Guling. A thousand years ago, the Liang family dug a well, which is now called the Square Well of the Song Dynasty. When the Liang family lineage reached the fifth ancestor, Liang Rujia, Liang Rujia and Zhu Xi visited Chayang in Guling. Looking south at the Minjiang River, they found this treasured land on the east side of Nantai Island.
