Fujian Palm Puppetry, also known as Palm Play or Bag Puppetry, is one of the representative traditional puppetry performance forms in the Southern Fujian region of China, and is recognized as an intangible cultural heritage.
With a long history, it is said to have originated in the Ming Dynasty and is popular among the people of Southern Fujian, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia where overseas Chinese communities reside.

The puppets of Bag Puppetry are operated with gloves, using the palm as the puppet’s torso, the index finger to support the head, and the thumb and other three fingers to hold the left and right arms, manipulating the puppets for dramatic performances.

This art form is capable of reflecting the skills of singing, reciting, acting, and fighting found in traditional theater, as well as expressing emotions such as joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness.

The performances are open all year round from 10:00 to 22:00.
