It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction and a Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit. Situated 34 kilometers from Zigong city center, it lies along the middle section of the Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway and is directly accessible via the Zi-Ya Highway. Renowned throughout China for its exquisite beauty, it is often praised in folklore with the saying, ‘The Leshan Giant Buddha is majestic, the Rongxian Giant Buddha is beautiful.’ It is the world’s second-largest stone-carved Buddha statue.
The temple is situated at the foot of the Giant Buddha Mountain (also known as Zhenru Cliff) on the outskirts of Rongxian County. It is a masterpiece showcasing the ingenuity of ancient artists and laborers, representing an artistic treasure among China’s stone carving heritage.
