Liaoyang White Pagoda is located in Section 1 of Zhonghua Avenue in front of the Liaoyang Railway Station, standing within White Pagoda Park in the northern corner of Liaoyang City.
The White Pagoda is ranked among the six tallest pagodas in China and is a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level.
The Liaoyang White Pagoda is grand and primitive in style, originally built during the Liao and Jin dynasties. After repeated renovations through successive dynasties, it has retained the appearance of its original construction period.
The White Pagoda was originally called the Pagoda of Guangyou Temple. Because its body was coated with white chalk, it is commonly known as the White Pagoda.
The White Pagoda is a brick structure with an octagonal, thirteen-story, close-eave design. It has a total height of 70.4 meters and consists of four parts: the base, the body, the eaves, and the spire, tapering inward story by story.
The body of the White Pagoda is decorated with eight-sided brick carvings of seated Buddhas, attendants, and flying apsaras, all detailed and exquisite.
Each story has wind bells and bronze mirrors, and the top of the pagoda features a gilded bronze spire, a treasure pearl, and a wheel of dharma.
The entire structure demonstrates a relatively high artistic level and stands out among ancient pagodas.
