Miyun Tianmen Mountain boasts two rare astronomical spectacles nationwide and a large mountain-penetrating cave in North China, also being home to a wild poplar forest in Beijing, with unique rural charm of Tianmen Mountain. The mountain features numerous scenic spots, with its main attraction, Tianmen Cave, also known as ‘Pole’s Eye,’ standing at an altitude of over 800 meters, approximately 60 meters high, and about 40 meters wide.

It is said to be the hole used by Erlang Shen to carry a pole when he was filling the sea. The cave, embedded in the cliff, is通透 and resembles a gateway to the heavenly court, hence the name Tianmen Mountain. Due to its northern location, it is commonly referred to as ‘North Tianmen Mountain.’ The ‘Tianmen Wonder’ occurs when the morning sun’s rays shine through the Tianmen, creating a spectacular ‘Sunrise at Tianmen’ that varies in position throughout the year.

On the 13th to 17th day of each lunar month, the moon appears like a silver mirror hanging in the middle of Tianmen, as if Erlang Shen’s divine eye is watching over the world, known as ‘Tianmen Suspended Moon,’ a rare sight nationwide.

‘Tiantai Viewing’ offers a panoramic view after passing through ‘Tianmen’ and ascending to ‘Tiantai,’ where one feels the grandeur of ‘surveying all mountains as small.’ Looking into the distance, the majestic Lupiguan Great Wall winds like a dragon atop the peaks, appearing and disappearing amidst the clouds, showcasing the wisdom of the Chinese nation and scenes of ancient warfare. Below, the sparkling Miyun Reservoir resembles a brilliant pearl set in the embrace of the Yan Mountains.

The Baihe Gorge unfolds like a jade belt, with the towering Yunmeng Mountains stretching boundlessly. There is also the winding ‘Pole’s Creek,’ with various peculiar mountains and rocks. The unique climatic and geological conditions within the mountain nurture lush natural vegetation and a rich variety of wild fruits, making the scenery exceptionally beautiful.
