Dawangjing Park is located in the Dawangjing Science and Technology Business Innovation District, Chaoyang District, Beijing, backed by the Beixiao River to the north and adjacent to Jingshun Road to the southeast. It is said that when Emperor Qianlong passed by this place, he looked back and saw Dongzhimen, thus bestowing the name Wangjing. The park’s predecessor was the famous urban village in Beijing, Dawangjing Village, which was later transformed into a park. The park covers a total area of 33.4 hectares and features main attractions such as Wangjing Terrace, Ancient Tree Square, Ruyi Lake, Qingxi Waterway, Shaded Square, and Health Trail.
Wangjing Terrace is situated on the main hill 8 meters high within the park, which is believed to be the location where Emperor Qianlong rested when he bestowed the name ‘Wangjing’. In Ancient Tree Square stands a 400-year-old locust tree, which, despite its age, remains vigorous and upright. Standing on Wangjing Terrace, one can overlook Ruyi Lake, which is filled with lotus flowers and purple lythrum, presenting a beautiful scenery. The winding Qingxi Waterway is traversed by large granite boulders, with aquatic plants such as water chives, reeds, aquatic irises, and lythrum thriving within. The Shaded Square is composed of more than 100 lush Chinese scholar trees, forming a large tree array. In summer, flowers such as delphiniums, false dragonheads, yarrows, sedums, and daylilies bloom, offering visitors a feast for the eyes. The Health Trail is paved with black pebbles, stretching 260 meters long, and walking barefoot on it can provide a foot massage-like effect. Open all year round, the park is open all day.Dawangjing Park
