The Xu Beihong Memorial was originally located at Xu Beihong’s former residence on Dongshoulu Street in Dongcheng District. It was reconstructed in the 1970s on Xinjiekou North Street in Xicheng District and reopened in January 1983. In September 2010, the museum closed for expansion and renovation. The new memorial covers an area of 5363 square meters with a total construction area of 10885 square meters, including a basic exhibition hall, temporary exhibition hall, lecture hall, and children’s activity area. The basic exhibition features Xu Beihong’s life and works, including large-scale oil paintings such as ‘Yu Gong Moves the Mountains’ and ‘Five Hundred Soldiers of Tian Heng’. It reopened to the public on September 17, 2019.
