The Sanyin Stone is located within the Temple of Heaven Park in Beijing, on the central axis path outside the Hall of the Imperial Vault of Heaven, also known as the ‘Three Talents Stone,’ symbolizing the ‘Heaven, Earth, and Humanity.’ The first, second, and third slabs of the paving stones starting from the temple’s base are the Sanyin Stones. The uniqueness of the Sanyin Stone lies in the acoustic phenomenon: speaking on the first stone results in one echo; on the second stone, two echoes can be heard; and on the third stone, three echoes are produced. The third stone is also referred to as the ‘Heaven’s Thunder Stone,’ indicating that the echo heard here is particularly resonant, akin to thunder.
