Zhang Shizhao’s former residence, a home of a renowned Chinese democratic figure and scholar, is located at No. 51 Shijia Hutong in Dongcheng District, Beijing. Later, Qiao Guanhua and Zhang Hanzhi also moved here to live. The Siheyuan, which faces south to north, was originally a three-part compound. Zhang Shizhao later separated the third part and created an independent courtyard by opening a street door on the south side of the Neiwubu Street. The courtyard’s street door faces south, with the main gate located on the west side of the gate.

The first courtyard consists of six south-facing rooms and three north-facing rooms, with the north-facing rooms serving as a passage hall. The second courtyard includes the main house and three rooms each on the east and west sides, surrounded by a copy of the hand tour corridor. Trees such as begonia and apple are planted in the courtyard, creating an elegant environment.
