The former residence of Liang Qichao is located at No. 44 Minzu Road, Hebei District, Tianjin. The Yinbing Room is located at No. 46 Hebei Road. The front building is the main building with a basement. There are nine rooms on each of the first and second floors. The entire building is divided into two parts. The east half is exclusively for the Liang family, including a small study, living room, and sitting room.
The west half is family housing. The back building is an ancillary building, including a kitchen, boiler room, storage room, and servants’ quarters. The front building and the back building are connected by corridors and overpasses. The entire building area is more than 1,100 square meters. The main building is of brick-wood structure with cement facing, molded patterns, special-shaped red tile roof, and high stone steps. It has double-slot doors and windows. The entire building is quite exquisite, with a garden, garage, and reception room. The Yinbing Room is located at No. 46 Minzu Road, Hebei District. It is connected to the residence (No. 44 Minzu Road). Built in 1924, it is a light gray two-story small western-style building. There are three small arched halls on the front of the building. There are stone steps on both sides of the front door. In the middle, there is a reservoir. In the reservoir, there is a stone beast sculpture. Water sprays from its mouth all year round. In the middle of the first floor is the hall. Among the five rooms around the hall, except for one miscellaneous room, the rest are study rooms and libraries. On the second floor, in the northwest corner, there is also a hall. In the southeast corner, there are several rooms mainly used as bedrooms or library and reference rooms. Liang Qichao lived here later and engaged in writing. The Yinbing Room of Liang’s family was designed by Italian architect Bianconio. It is a patio-style building with an enclosed awning. The architectural shape is unique. The main hall in the middle is actually the awning of the patio courtyard. The awning is higher than the roof and is made of stained glass. This building has a total of 34 rooms and a construction area of 949. 5 square meters.
