The inaugural ‘Shanghai Summer’ International Consumer Season will launch on July 6th and continue until the second weekend of October. Shanghai will introduce ‘7+58+X’ hundred commercial, tourism, culture, and sports exhibition activities to provide diverse consumption scenarios for domestic and international consumers, stimulating the potential for ‘great consumption’.
Zhu Min, the director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, has announced that preparations for 7 benchmark events with significant international attraction are well underway, including ‘Top of the Pyramid: The Great Exhibition of Ancient Egyptian Civilization’, the first Shanghai International Cruise Festival, City Walk Pro Shanghai City Experience Season, the first Shanghai International Light and Shadow Festival, and the first Shanghai International Electronic Music Festival, which are being introduced for the first time this year. Additionally, 58 key activities such as the CLE Shanghai International Creative Quality Life Festival, ‘The Eternal Notre Dame’ exhibition, and ‘Encountering the European Cup in Shanghai’—158 Magic City’s Charming Eyes on World Football will be gradually rolled out.
To create an international friendly consumption environment that is ‘welcoming to both near and far, and makes guests feel at home’, Shanghai is implementing a series of service measures aimed at meeting the needs of foreign individuals in the city. A bilingual guide for luggage storage in key commercial areas has been launched, striving to reach 500 service points for luggage storage in the city’s commercial sector by the end of July, continuously improving the coverage rate of luggage storage in key commercial areas and the corresponding bilingual signage coverage rate.Jing Ying, a first-level inspector of the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, stated that Shanghai has launched an English version of the Shanghai International Service Portal and three social media accounts to provide more convenient services for foreign nationals. Furthermore, a ‘Service Manual for Foreigners in Shanghai’ has been compiled, and the ‘Shanghai Information Weekly’ has been introduced to enhance the perception of foreign individuals. On June 29th, a one-stop comprehensive service center for foreign individuals was launched at Terminal 2 of Pudong Airport. It focuses on four major functional modules of payment, culture and tourism, communication, and transportation, providing a package of convenient services for international passengers arriving.
