Suning Art Museum is located along the Suzhou River in Shanghai, spanning a total of six floors. The museum’s overall space embodies the elegant style of a Suzhou garden, integrating the concept of ‘one step, one scene’ and ‘changing scenes with each step’ throughout the exhibition journey. Its unique and iconic five-story transparent glass design, known as the ‘Millennium Eye’, serves as a spiritual space for rest, allowing visitors to transcend time and engage in dialogue with history.
Suning Art Museum focuses on creating a platform for academic research, cultural exchange, and public education, while integrating industry resources to become a showcase for cultural and artistic innovation, as well as for the design of cultural and creative derivatives. The museum employs cutting-edge technologies such as AR/VR to bridge traditional cultural IP resources, presenting the charm and vitality of art in forms that are popular with the audience. By incorporating internet applications, the museum aims to create a smart exhibition hall, fostering exciting interactions between online and offline experiences, and enabling visitors to establish a new perception of art from a single exhibition experience. The museum’s collection is primarily centered around painting art, encompassing a variety of categories including bronze, rhinoceros horn, ivory carving, seal carving, agarwood, and jade carving, spanning from the late Shang and Western Zhou dynasties to the contemporary era. The nearly 3,000 pieces in the collection include works from representative figures of the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing dynasties, and modern times, with a focus on Chinese calligraphy and painting art. The collection of important Qing dynasty painting schools is more complete, with representative works from the Four Kings, Four Monks, Changzhou School, Jinling School, Yangzhou School, Shanghai School, and Qing Palace painters. The museum is open from 10/01 to 10/07 from 10:00 to 17:00; from 10/31 to 11/03, it is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00. Concessions are available for children under 1.3 meters (inclusive) who must be accompanied by an adult, free of charge; for seniors aged 70 and above (inclusive) who must present valid identification, free of charge; for seniors aged 60 to 69 (inclusive), half price; for disabled individuals with a disability certificate, double lower limbs and severe disability, must be accompanied by a caregiver, free of charge; for students who are full-time undergraduate students and below, with a valid student ID, half price.
