The Sinan Open-air Museum naturally gathers old western-style houses with a hundred years of history in Shanghai. There are 51 detached garden villas, including combined garden villas, townhouses, veranda-style buildings, new-style lilongs, garden lilongs and modern apartments and other architectural styles. It showcases Shanghai’s modern residential buildings and has a sense of a hundred years of history in Shanghai.

This museum has no walls, no glass showcases or fences, and there is no one-meter line. Every tourist can approach the exhibits, touch the exhibits, and experience the warmth and coolness shaped by the years and step into the century-old humanistic history. The exhibits of the Sinan Open-air Museum include old western-style houses, street lamps, ancient trees, red brick roads, cobblestone walls, etc.

There is a shield-shaped sign on the outer wall of each exhibit, with an exclusive QR code printed on it. And everyone’s mobile phone has become the museum’s voice commentator and tour guide. Visitors can scan the code to hear the voice about this exhibit, such as “The story of literati and generals”, “The Empress Dowager and plane trees” and so on. The specific business hours and opening status are subject to the opening situation on that day.
