Dongshuimen is located in the eastern part of Chongqing city, originally constructed during the Ming Dynasty. The city gate tower that once stood on top no longer exists today. The gate is characterized by its stone-arched entrance and is accompanied by a section of stone city wall nearby. Perhaps due to its strategic and defensible position, which made it easy to guard and difficult to attack, the gate was not equipped with a moat. The gate does not face the river; instead, it faces north and is one of the two remaining ancient city gates of old Chongqing. Today, a modern Dongshuimen Bridge has been constructed in this location, which has become a significant landmark in Chongqing. It is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
