In August 2023, with the approval of the Central Office of Organization and the reply of the Municipal Committee’s Editorial Committee, the Chongqing Hongyan United Line Cultural Development Management Center (Chongqing Hongyan Revolutionary Historical Museum) was adjusted to be directly managed by the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee and officially renamed as “Chongqing Hongyan Revolutionary Historical and Cultural Center (Chongqing Hongyan Revolutionary Historical Museum)”.
The Chongqing Hongyan Revolutionary Historical and Cultural Center (Chongqing Hongyan Revolutionary Historical Museum) is a full-funded bureau-level public institution, with a leadership system under the responsibility of the director under the leadership of the Party Committee. It currently oversees the Hongyan Revolutionary Memorial Hall (established in 1958), the Geleshan Revolutionary Memorial Hall (Geleshan Martyrs Cemetery) (established in 1963), the Xinhua Daily General Office Site Exhibition Hall (established in 2023), as well as the Chongqing Hongyan Cadre Academy and Chongqing Hongyan Cultural Industry (Group) Co. , Ltd.; it has 54 cultural relics and historical sites (46 are open to the public for free), including the former site of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China South Bureau and the Eighth Route Army Office in Chongqing, Zengjia Rock No. 50 Zhou Mansion, Guiyuan, the former site of the Xinhua Daily General Office, and the former sites of Zha Zi Dong and Bai Mansion, among others. The museum holds a collection of 108,200 pieces/items, with 8,688 movable cultural relics and 4,009 valuable movable cultural relics; it also has two national 4A tourist attractions. The main responsibilities include protecting the Hongyan revolutionary historical and cultural sites, researching and excavating revolutionary historical and cultural resources, promoting and promoting the Hongyan spirit, and disseminating revolutionary history and scientific and cultural knowledge.
