Sun Lake is located in the southeast of Huangshui National Forest Park, with an average altitude of about 1450 meters and a water area of more than 5000 acres. It is an artificial lake in the southwest region characterized by its high elevation, excellent water quality, and rich vegetation. The local Tujia people, who live and thrive on this magical land, worship and sing to the sun, hence the name: ‘Sun Lake’. Together with existing scenic spots such as Dafengbao and Youcao River, it forms the three core scenic areas of Huangshui Tourism Area. The entire region is常年 surrounded by clouds and mist, presenting a spectacular view of clouds and mountains, resembling a fairyland. Due to the distinct scenery in each season, boating on the lake offers a unique lakeside beauty. The area is open all year round from 8:30 to 18:30.
