The Chongqing Parachuting Tower, constructed in 1942, is acclaimed as the first parachuting tower in China and was one of the tallest and best-equipped in the Far East at that time. Its primary purpose was to train pilots for the resistance war. In 2000, it was designated as a municipal cultural heritage protection unit. The tower is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
