The Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is currently holding a special exhibition titled ‘Celestial Craftsmanship of Kiln Fires: Selected Ceramics from the Artifacts Collection of the Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong’. The public is welcome to visit.
For this exhibition, more than a hundred pieces are selected from the precious ceramics of past dynasties in the museum’s collection for display, spanning from the Neolithic Age to the Ming and Qing dynasties, covering seven thousand years. The curatorial team strives to comprehensively present the history and culture of Chinese ceramics, provide physical examples for relevant teaching in the university, and enable the audience to understand the development of ancient civilizations and history from the perspective of ceramic artifacts. The selected artifacts are abundant, including: Black-painted Double-handled Pot with Water Wave Pattern, Green-glazed Three-story Pottery Tower, Hare’s Fur Bowl, White-glazed Brown and Black-painted Lying Baby Pillow, Celadon Double-phoenix-ear Paperweight Vase, Blue and White Lotus Pond Pattern Plate, Five Doucai Chicken Cup Bowls, Famille Rose Brush Pot with Flower and Bird Patterns, White-glazed Guanyin Statue, Wucai Punch Bowl with Figures and Stories from ‘Romance of the Western Chamber’.
