The building of the Hong Kong Film Archive is divided into two parts. Each floor has half as a collection room, and the other half is an exhibition hall, cinema, and resource center for reference. The archive promotes Hong Kong film art to the public and provides a large amount of materials for filmmakers and researchers. The Hong Kong Film Archive has joined the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) and exchanges and shares film preservation and restoration experience with archives in various countries.
The Hong Kong Film Archive is located at 50 Lei King Road, Sai Wan Ho, Hong Kong Island. It is a four-story building. At present, the archive has thousands of film copies in its collection. The earlier one is a short scenic documentary film shot in Hong Kong by the American Edison Company in 1898. The existing earlier feature films produced in Hong Kong in the collection are works from the 1930s and 1940s, including ‘Diao Chan’, the famous anti-Japanese war work ‘Paradise in Isolated Island’ and ‘Roar of the Nation’. Opening hours: Open all year round, Monday, Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 – 20:00. Service facilities: Toilet.
