Mui Wo is a picturesque resort town, renowned for its fresh seafood restaurants. As early as the Ming Dynasty in the 16th century, farmers began to settle in Mui Wo. By the 19th century, there were six villages, with villagers primarily engaged in mining, which is why one of the beaches is named Silver Mine Bay. Today, you can find remnants of mining caves and several watchtowers built by villagers to defend against pirate raids in Mui Wo.

Starting from the 1930s, hotels and small markets were built along the bay of Mui Wo, making it a local holiday hotspot, with tourists flocking every weekend. Visit Silver Mine Bay beach for its scenic views; you can also enjoy delicious seafood in the local restaurants, with prawns, shrimp, and conch among the local catches, and some live clams are directly dug from Silver Mine Bay, fresh and sweet.

Mui Wo serves as a starting point for exploring Lantau Island, where you can take a bus from the bus station in front of the Mui Wo ferry terminal to visit Po Lin Monastery, Tian Tan Buddha, Ngong Ping Piazza, Ngong Ping Village, and Tai O, to continue your Lantau Island tour. Open all year round, accessible 24/7.
