Ma On Shan Village Mountain Trail

Starting from the barbecue area, the Ma On Shan Village Mountain Trail first passes through Ma On Shan Village, a village where miners once lived and a few old miners still reside today.

Continuing up the mountain, you will soon reach the beautiful Ngong Ping Plateau. To the right and behind of this location is Luk Chau Mountain, whose summit is covered with strangely shaped large rocks, forming a spectacular view.

Descending towards Sai Kung, you can enjoy the scenery of the Sai Kung area. At the mountain’s midsection, you will see a casuarina forest, which is a firebreak deliberately planted by the Fisheries and Conservation Department to prevent or slow down the spread of forest fires.

Further down the steps, you will arrive at Tai Shui Tseng, where several villages nearby were once scattered between Ngong Ping and Mau Ping. The trail is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
