The Oriental Archway stands prominently above the vehicular tunnel at the roundabout of Dr. Ho Yat Street in the newly reclaimed area. It is made of cast copper and iron, capturing the attention of all who pass by.
Designed by Portuguese artist, Jia Valo, the archway is left unpainted. Its materials are naturally oxidized, forming a protective layer on the surface that prevents corrosion.
The Oriental Archway reaches a height of 28 meters and spans 35 meters in width. Composed of several massive pre-cast copper-iron structures, including the curved columns on either side and the central ring, they interlock to create the grand Oriental Archway. It symbolizes the convergence and harmonious unity of Chinese and Portuguese cultures.
