Guia Hill, also known as Pine Hill, stands at an elevation of 91 meters and is located in the eastern part of the Macau Peninsula. It is a famous highland and the geographical coordinate of Macau.
Guia Hill, anciently named Qin Hill, was so named for its resemblance to a zither when viewed from a distance. Originally, it was a barren hill. During the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty, tree planting became popular in Macau, and the hill was covered with pine trees. After a few years, the hill was entirely covered with pine forests, and from then on, it was called the Ridge of Ten Thousand Pines, or simply Pine Hill, becoming a scenic spot in Macau.
On the hillside of Pine Hill, there is a road that encircles the hill, with several pavilions built along the roadside. The road is lined with trees, offering a cool shade, and the sea breeze is refreshing. The sound of the waves and the rustling of the pines create a serene atmosphere, with the fragrance of flowers and the songs of birds adding to the charm, making it a place where one can relax and enjoy.
The hill is open all year round, accessible 24/7, with the specific business status subject to the daily opening conditions. It is advised to avoid Mondays due to routine cable car inspections at the scenic area.
