Also known as ‘The Home of the Poor,’ Poveiros House is located at the end of the alley of St. Lazarus in the old district, consisting of two ancient Portuguese two-story buildings facing each other across a courtyard.
With a construction time of over a hundred years, during World War II, a large number of Portuguese from Shanghai sought refuge in Macau, and Poveiros House became a place specifically for accommodating refugees and the poor, later turning into a nursing home for elderly women.
Today, Poveiros House has been transformed by creative individuals into a venue that regularly hosts various art workshops, which are open to both children and adults, attracting young artists and art enthusiasts to linger here.
