St. Lawrence’s Church, also known as the Church of Our Lady of Good Voyage. It was established in 1560 and is one of the three very ancient churches in Macau. In the old days, people would come here to pray for good weather before going to sea. The location where the church is located used to be an upscale residential area, so the church is also beautifully built. Baroque elements are incorporated into the classical European architecture. St. Lawrence’s Church is full of Portuguese colors. It stands on a high platform. There are two rows of stone steps on the left and right leading directly to the church door. There are bell towers on both sides. One is a clock for telling time, and the other is a bronze bell for shaking and ringing when the church holds Mass. The spire roof of the church is paved with glazed tiles, which is a Chinese-style golden tile surface. In the gatehouse is a cross, and the yellow and white wall decoration lines are simple. St. Lawrence’s Church is not far from the A-Ma Temple and is adjacent to Nam Van and Sai Van. It is a good place for locals to date.
