When literati compose poems and couplets, they are inclined to write Danzhou as Dan Yang. In the Ming Dynasty, Lao Ao’s ‘Climbing the Zaijiu Hall’ says: ‘The scenery of Dan Yang is like spring in summer. The academician hall is opened by the seaside in miasmatic areas.’ In the Qing Dynasty, Wen Guandou’s ‘Eight Scenic Spots in a Joint Ode’ says: ‘The spring scenery of Dan Yang rivals that of Heyang. The pine forest dotted with green is especially fragrant in the evening.’ Nowadays, Dan Yang Road and Dan Yang Street named after ‘Dan Yang’ are well-known to the people of Danzhou.
Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year from 09:00 to 17:00; closed all day on Monday throughout the year; open from 09:00 to 17:00 on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day. The historical civilization exhibition on the third floor is closed every Monday.
