Sanya River, the mother river of Sanya, was once a natural harbor. At the estuary, it divides into the East River and the West River, forming a shape reminiscent of the Chinese character ‘Ya’.
Later, some fishermen disembarked here and settled in the city, affectionately referring to the river as ‘San Ya’, which eventually became known as Sanya River. Today, it has evolved into a scenic river of Sanya. After dinner, whether along the east or west bank of Sanya River, the evening breeze is refreshing, especially from Xinfeng Bridge to Sanya Bridge where the night landscape lights are beautiful.
Small squares along the river host fitness dance activities, creating a lively atmosphere. The river is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
