Bali Village is set against the background of the culture of returned overseas Chinese from Nanyang in Xinglong. Through Nanyang ‘customs’, ‘traditions’, ‘scenery’, and ‘flavors’, it connects the lives of returned overseas Chinese from Nanyang after they returned to China. It is a scenic area with the theme of returned overseas Chinese culture. Bali Village is composed of five functional areas. The Nanyang Cultural Center records in detail through pictures and words the real situation of returned overseas Chinese from Nanyang after they returned to the country, and showcases the construction and development history of Xinglong Overseas Chinese Farm over more than 60 years.
The living area of returned overseas Chinese takes the representative homes of returned overseas Chinese from different eras (thatched cottages of returned overseas Chinese from Malaysia in the 1950s, brick houses of returned overseas Chinese from Indonesia in the 1960s, and stone houses of returned overseas Chinese from Vietnam in the 1970s) as the background. Through experiencing handicraft workshops from different countries where they lived abroad, it reproduces real scenes of Malaysian returned overseas Chinese frying coffee, Indonesian returned overseas Chinese baking pancakes, and Vietnamese returned overseas Chinese making coconut candy. Nanyang Customs Street is a stage with Southeast Asian characteristics built on Hualishan in the scenic area. There are singing, dancing, and instrumental performances by old returned overseas Chinese for their own entertainment. Tourists can also interact and participate. Listen to cheerful music, watch charming dances, wear colorful shirts, taste local snacks, and experience exotic customs. The Root Origin Hall of Returned Overseas Chinese uses the existing root art gallery to tell the story of the relationship between returned overseas Chinese from Nanyang and Xinglong. It combines root art arrangements with the development and construction of Xinglong Overseas Chinese Farm to awaken people’s awareness of protecting the environment by loving greenery. In the product experience area, based on Nanyang culture and Nanyang flavors, it operates and sells the unique series of characteristic products of ‘old returned overseas Chinese’ in the south. ‘Taste southern flavors and experience Nanyang customs’.
