The Yongle Islands are an island group in the west of the Xisha Islands in China. They are located about 40 nautical miles southwest of Yongxing Island. Also known as the western island group and the eight western islands. They are mainly composed of Ganquan Island, Coral Island, Senping Beach, Jinqing Island, Chenhang Island, Guangjin Island, Jinyin Island, Zhongjian Island, Huaguang Reef, Panshiyu, Beijiao and other islands, reefs and beaches. The first six are all on the same huge arc-shaped reef flat, known as Yongle Atoll. There are 13 large and small islands on Yongle Atoll. Outside Yongle Atoll, there are two more islands: Zhongjian Island is an island with a relatively large land area in the Yongle Islands and is located at the western end of the Xisha Islands; the island on the Panshiyu Atoll is Panshiyu. Each island is surrounded by sand embankments. The middle is low and flat. There are fresh water wells. Some are sweet and drinkable, and some can be used but not drinkable. There are trees such as Tournefortia argentea, Dichotomanthes tristaniicarpa, and coconut trees. There are many gates between the islands and reefs of the Yongle Islands leading to the sea, such as Laocumen, Quanfumen, Yinyumen, Shiyumen, Jinqingmen, Ganquanmen, etc. There are also many reefs such as Lingyang Reef. Therefore, the Yongle Islands are an atoll with more islands among the South China Sea Islands and also the main island group of the Xisha Islands.
