Crocodile Mountain Scenic Area, also known as Crocodile Mountain Park, is located on the western side of Weizhou Island’s Nanwan Bay at Crocodile Ridge. It is the essence of the volcanic geological landscape of the entire Weizhou Island. Here, you can not only see the complete remnants of volcanic activity but also take photos with the lighthouse, overlook the entire Nanwan Bay from the corridor, and collect shells in the marine erosion pits during low tide.

The scenic area includes attractions such as the Crocodile Mountain Lighthouse, Tangweng Terrace, Volcanic Crater Site, Dragon Palace Exploration, Turtle Cave, Thief Cave, Hundred Beasts Stirring the Sea, Sea Erosion Arch Bridge, Moon Bay, Coral Sedimentary Rock, Sea Dry Stone Decay, and Moon Square. There are also geological wonders like volcanic bomb impact craters, ancient tree fossils, Water Curtain Cave, Sea Erosion Pillar, and Sea Erosion Pillar. It takes approximately over 3 hours to tour the entire scenic area.

From the ticket inspection point to the scenic area, it takes about 15 minutes on foot, or you can take a sightseeing vehicle to the Crocodile Mountain Lighthouse. From the lighthouse, follow the wooden stairs on the left to the bottom of the mountain, and you can see the Crocodile Mountain Volcanic Crater Site, one of Weizhou Island’s five volcanic craters. The most recent eruption was ten thousand years ago, and the magma spread along the narrow coastline, forming a brown-red volcanic rock area around it.
Not far away is a marine erosion pit that passes under the walking path, with the right brown-red rock wall appearing very towering, starting to erode the cliff wall, and Turtle Cave is one of them. Thief Cave is a small cave hidden in the shrubs on the rock wall, and below the cave is a huge marine erosion pit, from which you can pick up some coral remains during low tide. Further along, you will see the Sea Erosion Arch Bridge, a classic work of sea erosion caves eroded and weathered to the late stage. Near the sea erosion bridge is the dense area of volcanic bombs on the island, which is very spectacular.
Behind is Moon Bay, an arc-shaped sea erosion cliff tens of meters high and more than a hundred meters wide. The top of the cliff is covered with cacti, and at the foot is a desert made up of a large area of coral remains. After this place, there is a staircase on the right leading to the scenic area gate, but there is also a scenic spot called Platform Listening to Waves ahead, which is a large platform, so don’t miss it. Especially after low tide, you can see live corals and fish and shrimp that haven’t retreated in the pits, which is very interesting. The opening hours are from 05/01 to 10/31, 08:00-18:00, and from 11/01 to 04/30, 08:00-17:30.
