The Tianchi Grand Canyon is about 280 kilometers away from Nanning, the provincial capital of Guangxi. It is a large gathering place for Hakka people in Guangxi. Santan Town in the county is where the scenic spot is located. In the Southern Dynasties, it was also called Nanchang County. Here, not only is the environment beautiful and the scenery is charming, but the locals are also very hospitable, diligent and intelligent.
It is famous for producing longan pulp and has won the reputation of ‘the hometown of longan’. The Tianchi Grand Canyon scenic area belongs to the remaining vein of the Liunan Mountains and is composed of granite intrusions in the Variscan period. The mountain body is huge and the slope is steep, reaching 30-50 degrees. The river develops along the northwest-southeast fault, forming many valleys intersecting with the mountain trend. The running water cuts strongly, the valleys develop, and the river drop is large, forming a beautiful and spectacular multi-level waterfall landscape. The main species in the scenic area are Horsfieldia hainanensis, Antiaris toxicaria, Canarium pimela and Canarium album, fir, masson pine, camellia and star anise trees, etc. The forest coverage rate is about 90%. The Tianchi Grand Canyon is 3.8 kilometers long and is mainly composed of Toukengkou, Tangdu, Sankeng and Dashuikeng. The negative ion content in the air reaches or exceeds 1,000/cm3, with an average content of 60,000/cm3 and up to 180,000/cm3. Here, ancient trees and old vines cover the sky, mountain stones are in different shapes, ponds are dotted everywhere, waterfalls are magnificent, rivers and streams meander, water flows murmuringly, the whole valley is verdant. Sometimes it is gentle and elegant, and sometimes surging. The deep canyon, clear streams, verdant vegetation and the 100-meter-high Tianchi Grand Waterfall complement each other, making the entire canyon full of spirituality.
