Volcano Island, locally known as ‘Liu Dun Island,’ is comprised of six interconnected small islands. According to legend, a long time ago, a young dragon from this place fell in love with a fairy from the heavenly palace and often visited the heavens to meet her, thus breaking the heavenly rules. In a fit of rage, the Jade Emperor pursued them here and chopped the dragon into six pieces, which transformed into six small islands. It is said that the fairy often visits these islands to pay her respects to the young dragon, imbuing them with a touch of fairy essence.
Thanks to its unique natural conditions, Volcano Island boasts crystal clear and azure waters, soft and gentle sandy beaches, and rocks formed by volcanic activity 500,000 years ago. These rocks have developed unique textures after being washed by the sea for many years. The island’s shores are filled with the melodious sounds of birds, making it a permanent home for egrets. The island is lush with a variety of trees and even features rare tropical wild fruits, truly living up to its name as a volcanic island.
A particularly spectacular sight on the island is the floating racks for oyster farming on the sea surface and the oyster fields planted in the tidal flats. The calm bays with azure waters gently rock the sleeping oyster racks, while white seagulls occasionally skim the surface, and fishing boats filled with their catch slowly return to the harbor…
