Zhao Gong Causeway, also known as Xiao Xin Causeway, is one of the three causeways in West Lake. It was constructed in 1242 during the Southern Song Dynasty by a prefect with the surname Zhao, from Lin’an. Spanning from Su Causeway to Qu Yuan, this causeway connects Ling Yin Temple and Tianzhu, measuring 250 zhang in length. It has been renowned for its beauty, often described as ‘banks lined with flowers and willows, similar to Su Causeway.’

Over time, the causeway fell into disrepair. During the Qing Dynasty, a new causeway named Jinsha Causeway was built, which eventually evolved into a road. The current Zhao Gong Causeway that we see today was constructed in 2003.
